POTO MITAN EXHIBITION
Hopes and prayers for the healing of Haiti, my birthplace. This body of work was created in response to the 2010 earthquake where so many were lost and so many places of my childhood destroyed. I have used my artistic license to create a sacred space out of the need to pray for the healing of Haiti. The word Poto Mitan is creole and refers to the centre of the pole (or peristyle) of a vodou temple. In this installation it is the place where Heaven meets Earth: a Healing place.
